Call for Proposals
The call for proposals is now open for OER25 - Speaking Truth to Power: Open Education and AI in the Age of Populism. This year's Open Education Conference will take place on 23-24 June in London at the Resource for London conference centre.
All submissions are made via the Oxford Abstracts System. The call for proposals is open until 23:59, Tuesday 22 April 2025.
We invite proposals in the following categories; 60-minute Workshops, 60-minute Panel Discussions, 30-minute Presentations, 30-minute Research Papers and NEW FOR 2025, 10-minute Digital Poster Sessions.
As the narratives on artificial intelligence (AI) gather traction and populist movements dominate public debates, Open Education faces new challenges and opportunities. Proposals should consider the future of Open Education in a changing world and explore these key questions:
How can we adapt Open Education Practices (OEP) and Open Educational Resources (OER) when AI makes content creation easier but less transparent? Are there appropriate uses of AI which could support open practices and practitioners?
Generative AI can produce unlimited educational material, but its reliance on existing content raises questions about originality, accuracy, and ethics. What legal and ethical issues arise from the undeclared use of open content by AI? How can open and Creative Commons licensing speak back to powerful and easy new norms of content creation with AI?
How can open learning and open knowledge remain a public good in a time of political and media polarisation? How can open practitioners support each other through these challenges?
"F you AI!": How can Open Educational Practices and Resources provide critical, compassionate and equitable approaches to education that resist the dominant, populist AI narratives around transformation, increased productivity and personalisation of education?
Since its inception, the OER conference has been a hub for sharing knowledge, fostering collaboration, and shaping the future of open educational resources. For OER25, we are inviting proposals in the following categories; 60-minute Workshops, 60-minute Panel Discussions, 30-minute Presentations, 30-minute Research Papers and NEW FOR 2025, 10-minute Digital Poster Sessions.
All proposals must be submitted through the Oxford Abstracts System by 23:59 on Tuesday 22 April 2025. To submit your proposal, you will need to create an Oxford Abstracts account.
